Man has tried to copy and reproduce the unique beauty of what God made when he created wood. Mother Nature and the sands of time have put their mark and temper into each piece of timber we see. This is something I embrace and I try to give credit to all, maintaining the love and care and helping bring the story out of each piece of wood chosen for my Art Furniture.
We can tell by looking at the wood how old it is and if it had a good year or bad, if it was blown around by nature. Each piece of wood has a story, a history and like all things a good story needs to be told. I’m more than happy to be a part of history and I am happy that God has given me the skill and passion to bring each story to life in the shape of my signature pieces of furniture. This is why I like to polish my furniture naturally with a clear finish the story is jumping out of the furniture.

I believe most furniture manufacturers have very low standards in furniture making for the following reasons:
- They do not care and/or they have not got the time to tell the story.
- They use man-made products and try to hide it from you.
- You, the customer, may not want to spend the money and will settle for a bad piece of furniture, and waste your money on something that may look good and do its job for a few weeks, months or even a year or two if you’re lucky.
- People need to wait for a masterpiece but we live in a society that demands everything now. Sometimes we should slow down and smell the roses, as they say. You could be missing something that could change your life.
If you take a look for example, under your table and you don’t see the same finish as on the top, this is what will happen to your table or furniture, if it hasn’t already. When you polish or lacquer furniture without coating all surfaces you change the tension of wood and it will pull and crack. The moisture in the wood needs to stay at a bout 5 – 10 degrees and just liked anything, if you take the moisture out or allow it to dry out it will crack, move and split. You may have heard people say the furniture looks dry or may have heard the term ‘you need to feed it’ with wax or polish. Now this will only happen when you don’t polish the furniture properly to start with by finishing it all over and especially under tables and the backs and bottoms of pieces where you normally wouldn’t look. Why do people do this, you ask? Well, tell time is money and most companies try to save money by taking shortcuts, but most of all they don’t care about how long their furniture will last and don’t respect the story within the piece of wood that has been used. They have no passion, no love of what they do and/or they do not have the knowledge and understanding of how to uncover the history written in timber.

The welcome home feeling, that feeling of love and relaxation and a place to hang up your hat and knowing that your friends have that same warm cozy sensation when they come over and they just love the environment of your home or your office – the one that has your family fighting over the beautiful piece of Art Furniture. This feeling can only be truly had when the heart and soul of a man goes into the furniture to bring out the true story that has been locked away in the timber and is just waiting to be told.
